O’s Notes: This collection is symphonic in nature with lots of dynamics. Leader Brad Leali (sax, vocals) combines six originals with three freshly arranged standards to present a vibrant program. It is conducted by Derrick Gardner (t). The rhythm section is rock solid and punctuated by at least a dozen musicians wielding horns; lots of brass! We liked “The Pink Panther”, the swinging Latin beats and call & response of the title track and “Mr. Sneaky” where Leali cuts loose. There are certainly some potential new standards here.
