O’s Notes: It’s amazing to see Shirley continuing to perform at this level at 69 years old. Her voice is not youthful but she doesn’t take it in directions that would leave her out of place. She sings from the heart, giving the listener an honest and rich performance. The arrangements too, are new and well suited to her sweet spot. “Never Let Go”, “Everything Must Change” and the title track all work well. Ms. Horn takes it slow, allowing us to embellish every bit of warmth. Ahmad Jamal (p) and Roy Hargrove (t) make guest appearances on two songs each otherwise the rhythm section is George Mesterhazy (p), Ed Howard (b) and Steve Williams (d).
