O’s Notes: MD66“places alto saxophonist Jim Snidero in the middle of a vibrant modern jazz set. This is the follow up to“Main Street, Snidero’s last recording that we reviewed favorably (4/3). Drummer Rudy Royston returns joining bassist Ugonna Okegwo, Alex Sipiagin on trumpet and pianist Andy Laverne in the Jim’s continuously evolving quintet. They play eight selections including six new originals as Snidero continues to reinvent his game with each release. We enjoyed “Unified”, the mellow “Blue In Green”, the cooking “Purge” and “Who We’ve Known” best.
