O’s Notes: Guitarist Barde is a student of his instrument. He has so much passion that he has designed the Bardophone, his unique guitar design that we hope to hear on a future recording. Unfortunately, it was not finished in time for this session, only the photo shoots. But the more pertinent point is the quality of Jérme’s playing here. It’s excellent! He is very deliberate, playing each note with distinction followed closely by pianist Baptiste Trotignon. Bassist Vincent Artaud and drummer Daniel Bruno-Garcia round out the quartet. They play all new music written by Barde. It’s a cross between fusion and cool bop that resonates well in our sweet spot, well beyond a few good riffs but not so complex as to require 200% of your concentration for enjoyment.
