O’s Notes: This CD is dedicated to the legendary Miles Davis. The focus is on his fusion years. The cast of musicians is impressive with Gerald Albright (sax), Marc Antoine (g), Michael Brecker (sax), Keiko Matsui (p) and Nicholas Payton (t) to name a few. The tasteful use of synthesizers along with an organ (Jason) capture the mood nicely on “Butter Pecan” and “King of The Bling”. Then there’s the cooler “Love Code” and “Flamenco Sketches” with vocals. This is not a series of rearranged Miles tunes. Rather it is new material inspired by the late genius. He’d be satisfied.
