O’s Notes: Pianist Bill O’Connell performs his first solo recording for this live set in the Farian Room at Carnegie Hall in New York City December 2016.“Monk’s Cha Cha“is more than a dedication to Thelonious Monk. This session is a celebration of Bill’s four decades dancing across the keys with both Latin and Bebop flavors. It is well stated on the title track, one of five originals in the nine-song set. There are peaceful moments on “Dindi” and “It Could Happen To You” along with more spirited jubilance on “Gibberish” and “White Caps”.
