O’s Notes: Wood’s debut CD contains a dozen popular ballads, which she dedicates to her late parents. Millicent is from the San Francisco area and is certainly familiar to local jazz scene there. She infuses a soulful approach with a little scatting and a lot of feeling… She really starts cooking on “Come Rain or Come Shine” and sparkles on “Summertime” and “God Bless The Child”. She has a distinct style that is refreshingly different.
