O’s Notes: George is an excellent jazz pianist – listen to him stretch out on “Stroll”, one of several very good piano solos. Trumpeter Eddie Henderson makes his presence known quickly with crisp work for “On Green Dolphin Street” then blitzing across the changes on “Up Jumped Spring”. John Heard (b) and Sherman Ferguson (d) round out the quartet. This session was captured at San Francisco’s Keystone Korner during 1980. The recording quality is not great but the live audience was most appreciative. ‘Wish we could’ve been there.
