O’s Notes: The sweetness of Bryd’s trumpet and the rich and throaty baritone sax of Pepper lead the melodies on Motor City Scene; a relaxed set of 5 songs with the Detroit sound. The opener, “Stardust” puts us in the mellow mood. We also like the blending of the lead lines; trumpet and sax along with Kenny Burrell’s guitar on “Libeccio”.
