O’s Notes: The groove starts out with the mysterious feel of the opener, “All Roads Lead to You” and the cooler tones continue throughout the set. The blending of Jamie’s flute with the warm sounds from the brass and the mix of her classical music foundation with spirited improvisation make contrast a fitting description for this rich endeavor. Ralph Alessi (t), Doug Yates (sax) and Tom Varner (French horn) handle the metal in front of a tight rhythm section with Jeff Hirshfield (d), Drew Gress (b) and George Colligan (p). This work is adventurous and creative with a lot of depth.
