O’s Notes: Irene sings the blues in front of a cool quartet: B3, bass, guitar and drums, all the right stuff. Reid has character that comes through in the lyrics, not just the words but the feelings too. This works to expand her repertoire from blues to soulful ballads like “Love Won’t Let Me Wait” and “Lover Man”. But the true essence of her program is blues, tunes like “Movin’ Out Of The Neighborhood” and “Second Tine Around”. It is an entertaining program!
