O’s Notes: Music for Drums and Guitar is a duo recording featuring guitarist Miles Okazaki and drummer Dan Weiss. There are essentially two lengthy, multipart, original compositions, one by each musician. Our favorites are Part VI and Part VII of “The Memory Palace” by Okazaki and Part V and Part VIII of “Middlegame” by Weiss. The music is free, jazz-fusion, a part of John Zorn’s Stone Commissioning Series dedicated to advancing experimental and avant-garde music.
