O’s Notes: Saxophonist Glenn Cashman leads a brassy nonet that he considers to be an overgrown small group. We prefer to call it an efficient big band. They swing with a lot of power and have no congestion. Cashman is the arranger and also a composer of many of the selections on Music Without Borders. They take philanthropic strides by donating a portion of the profits form the recording to Doctors Without Borders, an organization dedicated to providing need-based medical care in over 70 countries! The music is as noble as the act and worthy of repeated listening.
