O’s Notes: We all enjoyed the works of the late saxophonist Joe Henderson. Paul pays tribute with six arrangements of Henderson pennings and a couple of his own compositions done in the same spirit. Carr doesn’t hold back on “Our Thing” wailing through the changes as if he’s on a mission. Pianist Mulgrew Miller is right there with him! They maintain that tempo for “Mamacita”, “Granted” and all the way through “Zsa Zsa”. These are good vibes and great memories as Paul took Henderson’s advice; he plays musically!
