O’s Notes: This is a fine recording made in 1997 and has aged like fine wine released many years later. Lee plays both alto and tenor sax leading the band through eleven selections and shining on “Blues Clues”. The music is a combination of swinging covers like “All Or Nothing At All” and four originals. It’s bop but with mild Latin undertones resulting in a mellow groove that really resonates on “Sweet And Lovely” and “Velas”. Greene assembled a fine band that includes Eddie Henderson (t), Santi DiBriano (b), Avishai Cohen (b) and John Di Martino (p). It feels great but unlike a fine aged wine, this one can be enjoyed repeatedly!
