O’s Notes: This was filmed in HD at the premier jazz spot in Paris, New Morning during 2007. It is always fascinating to see Stanley Jordan playing guitar. His two-handed technique is unbelievable and impressive to witness. This performance goes beyond solo guitar as Charnett Moffett (b) and Gabriel Haynes (d) join him. Both are up to the task, especially Moffett who seems to be inspired by Jordan. Stanley opens “Song For My Father” on piano, then playing both piano and guitar simultaneously. He returns to solo guitar on “Because”, a peaceful effort. Jordan played all the tunes with the passion of a lasting impression – as if there was no tomorrow. Moffett opened “Amazing Grace” slapping his bass from every angle before the rousing finalé “Return Expedition”. This is a high-energy session.
