O’s Notes: When polished musicians get together generally good things happen. When they are confident, unselfish, established comrades with years of experiences together, we are in for a treat! This is the case on New Ties and Binds featuring leaders Clay Jenkins (t) and Don Aliquo (ts) with pianist Harold Danko, Rufus Reid on bass and drummer Jim White. Aliquo wrote half of the eight tunes with each of the other musicians contributing an original as well. Highlights are “Cool Hand Luke”, “New Ties” and “Glory” in a fine modern jazz session.
