O’s Notes: This is a novel concept centered in a timeless classic “you and the night and the music”. Yeo splits the song into two themes on two CDs. The first is bubbly romance backed by a swinging trio including Adam Birbaum (p), Evan Gregor (b) and Bryson Kern (d). The second is the reflective aftermath – all ballads with pianist Bimbaum, a new entrant on the jazz scene. The first disc celebrates the heat of the moment while the second includes all of the lingering thoughts: loneliness, pain, hope and reminiscing! We preferred the trio set for the groove, the mood and the music. Yeo sounds good all the way through.
