O’s Notes: This is a massive project that started in 2006 with jazz pianist Kenny Werner commissioned to compose a concert honoring the 80th birthday of Bradford Endicott. The support would come from MIT’s Wind Ensemble, Judi Silvano (vocals) and Joe Lovano (sax). Along the way Kenny suffered the loss of his daughter in a tragic car accident. That event triggered emotions that enhanced the production in 2007. Werner was not completely satisfied however and when given the chance to record the movement in 2009, he punched on it, embellishing the work with more finesse. The supporting wind ensemble is now composed of NYU music students along with Lovano and Silvano. The results are passionate, emotional and now done to Kenny’s satisfaction. It is a dynamic movement that will touch your soul.
