O’s Notes: This group of gospel singers joins up with the English Chamber Orchestra. The marriage of a cappella with a classical orchestra works surprisingly well while neither is heavily compromised. The compositions come from both classical and isicathamiya repertoires including Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus”, Schubert’s “Sanctus” along with Shabalala’s “Awu Wemadoda” and “Homeless”. This cross-cultural effort proves that music is an excellent harmonizer.
