O’s Notes: Eric is a crooner with a soft baritone voice. The minimal instrumental accompaniment behind him is strong. Peter Bernstein (g), Wycliffe Gordon (tb), Matt Wilson (d), Peter Washington (b), Eric Reed (p) and Frank Wess (sax, fl) all do an excellent job. You can appreciate the warm tones of Comstock’s voice along with the instruments. The sixteen songs are a combination of originals and standards centered on romance. Among the best is “When Lights Are Low”. It is a good session.
