O’s Notes: Swiss vocalist Gabriela Martina releases No White Shoes, her second album as a leader. It is a self-produced effort with a good mix of originals and standards. The music is jazz-fusion with an upbeat contemporary flair. Unfortunately we found the bass to be rather boomy. There is no discounting Martina’s voice however! She graces us with rich harmonies and sweet tones on “Witch Hunt” and “On My Way”. The cover of “A Night In Tunisia” is unique and well integrated into her set.
