O’s Notes: Grdina (oud, g) takes us to the land of free fusion with Nomad Trio featuring pianist Matt Mitchell and drummer Jim Black. The music is all-original by Grdina and he places himself at the center of attention on tunes like “Nomad” where his band mates feed off of his energy. At times they approach mass pandemonium before settling into individual excursions that are far more digestible.
