O’s Notes: Jazz guitarist, producer Bobby Broom performs with bassist Dennis Carroll and drummer Kobie Watkins, his working trio, on Notes of Thanks, his latest release. It is a tribute to the legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins featuring his compositions. Both Broom and Watkins played in Sonny’s bands, adding to the authenticity of the work. The sole original is Carroll’s ballad “Me Time”. Most of the music showcases Broom’s prowess but both Carroll and Watkins bode well trading with Broom on “Strode Road”. We also enjoyed “Pent Up House”, “Doxy”, and “Alfie’s Theme”.
