O’s Notes: These guys have a time tested formula for delighting contemporary jazz audiences. Their signature includes both relaxed ballads like “Heritage” and up beat funky tunes like the opener “Swiss Ming”. They seem to age like fine wines and the band is producing mature mellow sounds with ’bn. The blend of percussion, with an Asian twist works well. Dan (sax) and June (koto) Kuramoto write most of the tracks but the core unit also includes bassist Dean Cortez, Shoji Kameda (percussion) and pianist Kimo Cornwell. It more of what you know but better!
