O’s Notes: Tessa has a lovely voice and puts it to work on a wide variety of materials for Obsession. Whether she cruises over the Latin beats of “Empty Faces” or soars on “Now and Then” Souter screams with emotion. She is very convincing on “Nora’s Song” and the title track, both with strong accompaniment from guitarist Jason Ennis. We also enjoyed her covers of “Eleanor Rigby” and “Afro Blue”. Souter achieves a unique vocal footprint without gimmickry.
