O’s Notes: This is an unusual approach featuring Michael Rabinowitz on bassoon leading the melodies. Grisha Alexiev (d), Diana Herold (vibes) and Joe Fonda (b) round out the quartet. The music has a great sense of swing and the combination of bassoon and vibes on melodies is refreshingly warm. The spirit is playful on “The Frog & The Princess” a jovial call and response tune. They swing with a sense of confidence on “PMB” and “True & False”. The sound is unique; a welcomed fresh approach!
