O’s Notes: Drummer Peter Erskine leads the Dr. Um Band, with Benjamin Shepherd (b), Bob Sheppard (sax) and John Beasley on keyboards. 10 of 11 songs are originals written by band members along with a cover of Henry Mancini’s “Dreamsville”. The first disc is a studio recording and the second disc is live in Occhiobello, Italy, July 30, 2017. We enjoyed both. When you can listen to an album like“On Call“on continuous loop for hours, you know it’s good! Erskine’s group is always ready to entertain with a fusion groove that stands the test of time.
