O’s Notes: The band is Christian Jacob (p), Trey Henry and Kevin Axt on bass, Ray Brinker (d) and singer Tierney Sutton up front. Her arrangements of these popular tunes are unique and creative. The mood is very relaxed and the music is fully supportive, never intrusive of her voice. This is notable on “Sometimes I’m Happy” where Ray, Kevin and Trey shine. And when Tierney sings we smiled in appreciation. Only a good singer can shine with these unmasked arrangements and Sutton comes through effortlessly. The only question is whether you’ll appreciate the transformed songs. Jack Sheldon adds trumpet and shares the mic on “I Want To Be Happy”, one of the bouncy upbeat tunes. This is good entertainment.
