O’s Notes: Out Of Nowhere is world jazz-fusion centered on 2 musicians from the Russian countryside: Artyom Yakushenko (violin) and Yuri Matveyev (g). The rhythms are a funky pop played in various tempos and styles. George Whitty adds keyboards and drum programming to expand the soundscape on songs like “Come with Me Anyway” and the Caribbean cool “Natasha , Havana”. “New Russian” and the racy bluegrass of “Lake Baikal” are standouts in a strong lineup of fifteen songs.
