O’s Notes: Lauren’s vocals are well articulated with good tonal balance. She sounds good with her accompaniment whether it’s a large ensemble or minimalist as on her duet with pianist Kathryn Bostic for “Haunted Heart”. We also enjoyed “He’s Funny That Way” and “When All The Lights In The Sign Worked” with fine solos from Andrew Carney on trumpet and Hitomi on sax. Lauren’s band is solid throughout the session with fresh arrangements by Bostic. The core is pianist Mitchell Forman with bassist Trey Henry and Abe Lagimas, Jr. on drums.
