O’s Notes: Bob Brookmeyer is a trombonist, arranger, composer and bandleader. He is legendary in his works and celebrated here on Over Time a collection of his music performed by the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra spanning decades. Assembling the team of musicians was no easy task but well worth it! Dick Oates (sax) delivers a scintillating take of “Skylark”, again and perhaps better than ever. In addition to the classics, they record several tracks for the first time here. This performance is satisfying with lots of depth and layering, strong integrated solos and rich harmony.
