O’s Notes: Pianist and composer Caili O’Doherty leads a jazz-fusion band with a core that includes bassist Zachary Brown and drummer Cory Cox. Mike Bono adds guitar on the title track opening a solid set. The music pops with beats that make you want to move. Ben Flocks (tenor sax) takes the lead line on “Prayer Song” while Caroline Davis (alto sax, scatting) and Eric Miller (tb) make their presence known on “Ode to St. Johns”. O’Doherty shines on “Stumptown” with a nice solo from Davis as well. These a few of many highlight is a strong session.
