O’s Notes: Italian pianist and composer Roberto Negro is based in France where he leads a quartet with Emile Parisien (sax), Valentin Ceccaldi (b) and Michele Rabbia (d). Negro composed all of the music alone and in collaboration with Ceccaldi for the explosive, funky “Apotheke”. The theme of Papier Ciseau is approaching intergalactic travel with lots of unexpected surprises. We found “Odile” to be somewhat inviting as Roberto and his team serve up a large dollop of creativity.
