O’s Notes: These songs were all recorded in Paris between 1957 and 1961. Bud and the accompanying musicians had a sense of swing that worked well. Barney Wilen (ts) keeps things flowing on “Omicron”. Bud’s presence is strong everywhere – he’s burnin’ and enjoying himself thoroughly. You can hear his vocal scatting fueling his tank on “Shaw ‘Nuff” which also includes nice work from drummer Kenny Clark. Peanuts Holland (t) and René Thomas (g) shine on “Buzzy”. These are a few of the highlights among the 13 songs on Parisian Thoroughfares.
