O’s Notes: This is a duo recording with bassist Charnett Moffett joining Jana singing and playing her guitar. The open stage is fitting for the rich sounds emanating from their instruments on a program of mostly original music. Moffett anchors the beats for many musicians and is true to form here providing a solid foundation. Herzen is the discovery. She normally runs Motéma, the jazz label she founded many years ago but this is her time to bask in the spotlight. The program includes Latin, pop, blues, folk and jazz. No doubt Jana is a woman of many talents!
