O’s Notes: The rhythm section of Chick’s Origin band with Avishai Cohen (b) and Jeff Ballard (d) steps out on their own for a solid neobop set. The music includes the rearranged classic “Jitterbug Waltz”, some gentle dedications to loved ones, the racing “Life Line” and our favorite, “Fingerprints” inspired by Wayne Shorter’s “Footprints”.
