O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist Quinsin Nachoff’s Flux includes alto saxophonist David Binney, pianist Matt Mitchell and drummers Kenny Wollesen (1,3,4 & 6) and Nate Wood (1,2,5 & 6). They are strong musicians engaging in a rather eclectic free fusion that is edgy and expansive. There are six original compositions spread across two discs for 81 minutes in the“Path of Totality. We enjoyed “Splatter” best but all songs are well developed and extract the most from the musicians, especially the drummers. Hats off to a courageous effort from Quinsin Nachoff!
