O’s Notes: Andy (g) takes a dozen Mingus songs and gives them a fusion treatment. The first two tracks are rock interpretations complete with wah-wah, distortion and fuzz. He switches gears to cooler notes on “Opus Three” before going Latin, then to blues on “Weird Nightmares”, and adding a rap with Q-Tip: “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”. He finishes on relaxing notes with a string accompaniment. It is a very creative set with several sparklers.
