O’s Notes: This is the debut recording for Olivia Foschi singing with all-star accompaniment. She has a soft nasal tone that feels just right on top of solid rhythms. Her supporting quartet is Miki Hayana (keyboards), David Rosenthal (g) and a deep-rooted bottom with bassist Michael Olatuja and drummer/producer Ulysses Owens, Jr. Gregoire Maret (harmonica) makes a strong appearance on two selections. We also enjoyed Mike Cottone’s flugelhorn on “Daydream” one of Foschi’s 5 originals. We look to hear more of Olivia’s winning formula.
