O’s Notes: The combination of pianist Geri Allen, drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and David Murray on sax and bass clarinet is a formidable “Power Trio”. They play modern bop, contemporary ballads and some edgy free jazz. Their sound is explosive as they express themselves through their instruments. They pay homage to jazz legends Marcus Belgrave, Ornette Coleman and Charlie Haden. Charnett Moffett (b), Craig Harris (tab) and Wallace Roney, Jr. (t) make guest appearances on “Perfection”, one of the highlights dedicated to Coleman.
