O’s Notes: Boston-based guitarist, composer Eric Hofbauer leads a quartet with co-producer, drummer Dylan Jack, Tony Leva (b) and Jerry Sabatini (t). Period Pieces is their latest endeavor, a heavy improvisational set with each musician sharing writing and arranging duties. There is an abundance of suspense and mystery on “Tread Lightly…” and on the opener. We enjoyed “Awake Again” and the open stage on “With A Purpose”. This is an intriguing set.
