O’s Notes: Peripheral Vision is a quartet led and produced by guitarist Don Scott and bassist Michael Herring. They are joined by Trevor Hogg (sax) and Nick Fraser (d). The program consists of nine original jazz-fusion tracks, four by Scott and five by Herring. The mood is generally mild until “Says You” an upbeat number with Trevor and Don linked on the melody. Our favorite tracks are “What do you think happens when you get too far from your house?” a candidate for the longest song title of the year 🙂 and the more mellow “Go To Bed”. The interplay between the band is good and results in a fine effort overall.
