O’s Notes: Tom (g) and Tim (b) formed the quartet in 2001 to play some of their own compositions. David Bixler (sax) and Jeff Brillinger (d) are the other band members. The music is a mix of fresh modern jazz, fusion and Latin jazz. Dempsey’s “Just Chill” has a funky cool feel followed by “Delia’s Samba” and the relaxed “Vernazza”. Dempsey shows his ability to cook on “Perspectives” and they return to fusion on “You Wait Here” and “The Look Within” to accent a strong set.
