O’s Notes: On Photographs Conklin straddles the line between Cabaret and jazz styles. While she touches both sides, she’s best in her sweet spot with a distinct lyric of the stage. In either case there is great music courtesy of a backing band that include pianist John diMartino, Joel Frahm (sax), Warren Vache (cornet) and guitarist Paul Meyers. Guest saxophonist Houston Person adds warmth to “For No One”, one a few highlights. Thirteen tracks with a swinging band make this a good session.
