O’s Notes: Brazilian pianist Benjamin Taubkin steps away from his typical trio format to record his second solo effort. This one is a part of Adventure Music’s Piano Masters Series featuring Fazio handmade pianos. While these are among the best instruments of their kind they require artists of Taubkin’s caliber to extract the most from them. Benjamin performs a program of originals and classics including “Giant Steps”, Jobim’s “O Morro Não Tem Vez” and Pixinguinha’s “Proezas de Solon”. Most of the eight originals are relaxed ballads. This is a piano lovers dream and also a fine CD for background music.
