O’s Notes: Johnny Summers plays trumpet and sings with strong support from polished pianist Tommy Banks. This is Piano Sessions, Volume 2. The first edition featured pianist Chris Andrew. The program is a good mix of original material and pop and jazz classics that comes together with a new but retro-1940s feel. “Bassists Kodi Hutchinson & Brandon McElroy and saxophonists Jeremy Brown & Eric Allison make guest appearances on two selections each adding more depth to the sound stage. Johnny does a fine job crooning as well as on trumpet as does piano master Banks. The combination is scintillating. “Star Dust”, “If You Have To Ask” and “You’re The One” are among the many enjoyable songs.
