O’s Notes: Henry has a unique piano style. There are threads of New Orleans jazz and blues along with some ragtime all superimposed on an aggressive, dynamic technique. This is his first solo album and he does a good job singing and playing. It is mostly a blues program including a few originals. It is a compilation of songs from his live performances. Butler is a true entertainer who delights his audience and enjoys himself along the way. The audience is sure to engage! He suffered along with many victims of Katrina losing his home and many possessions yet he persists not missing a beat. Here you can enjoy New Orleans standards like Professor Longhair’s “Tipitina”, passionate ballads like “Old Man River”, and our favorite blues instrumental: “North American Idiosyncrasies”.
