O’s Notes: NYC-based vibraphonist Steve Shapiro collaborates with Jeff Coffin (sax), Pat Bergeron (g) and several first call musicians for Plan To Be Spontaneous. Vocalist Lucy Woodward adds a cool touch on the opener, “Extremely Moderate”, a track that reminded us of Steely Dan. They get funky on “Chrome Dinette” and “Smellonious Funk”, a couple of our favorites.
