O’s Notes: Saxophonist, composer T. K. Blue takes us on a journey to Planet Bluu, a utopian world just outside of our galaxy. Everything here is fair and stress-free, as close to heaven as you could imagine. Blue leads a band with Wallace Roney, Jr. (t), Davis Whitfield (p), Dishan Harper (b), and Orion Turre (d). Things come together on the title track and “Chessman’s Delight”, both including guest Steve Turre (tb, shells). We also enjoyed “Turquoise Bluu”, “The Bluu Sea of Our Tomorrows”, and “When It’s Time To Say Goodbye” featuring pianist Dave Kikoski.
